Interested in High School Articulation?
Thank you for your interest in supporting high school articulation at Citrus College!
High school articulation creates a seamless pathway for students to transition from high school Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses to aligned programs at Citrus College. Through formal articulation agreements, approved high school or ROP courses are matched with equivalent college-level courses, allowing students to earn college credit for skills they’ve already demonstrated.
Why Articulation Matters
By aligning curriculum with our high school partners, Citrus College faculty help students get a head start on their educational and career goals. When a student successfully completes an articulated course and passes the agreed-upon Credit by Exam with a grade of B or higher, it confirms they are prepared to continue to the next level of instruction at Citrus College, saving both time and tuition.
The Process: How to Get Started
Faculty interested in articulating a course should follow these steps:
-
Identify a Course
Choose the course(s) you’d like to make available for high school articulation.
-
Create an Account
Click "Sign In" (top right corner of this page) to request an account on the CTE Course Connect system.
-
Connect with the Career Pathways Specialist
Reach out and share the course you’d like to articulate. You’ll be notified if a high school teacher expresses interest in aligning with your course.
-
Attend a Curriculum Review Meeting
When a high school teacher is interested in articulating one of your courses, the Career Pathways Specialist will arrange a meeting with you and the high school/ROP teacher. You’ll review their course outline in advance and provide feedback regarding curriculum alignment during the meeting.
- Finalize the Agreement or Provide Feedback
- If curriculum alignment is achieved, the teacher will submit a request for a CTE Course-to-Course Articulation Agreement.
- If alignment is not met, faculty may decline the request and will provide constructive feedback explaining the rationale.
Faculty Responsibilities
- Review the high school course outline and materials
- Meet with the high school instructor to ensure curriculum alignment
- Conduct a site visit to observe equipment, lab space, or software
- Use the site visit as an opportunity to promote your program
- Host a campus visit for articulated students
- Create a final assessment (exam, project, or portfolio review)
- Submit final grades to the Career Pathways Specialist (within two weeks of assessment)
Compensation
- Faculty who participate in the articulation process are eligible for a stipend.
