About CTE Programs and High School Articulation
What Is CTE High School Articulation?
CTE High School Articulation is a formal partnership between high schools/ROP programs and Citrus College that creates seamless educational pathways. Students enrolled in approved high school CTE courses can earn college credit by demonstrating mastery equivalent to college coursework.
Why It Matters
Career Technical Education combines academic knowledge with hands-on training in high-demand fields, preparing students for both college and the workforce. Articulation helps students:
- Advance more quickly toward certificates or degrees
- Experience college-level learning expectations
- Gain early exposure to college campuses and faculty
- Earn degree-applicable and transferable credit (where applicable)
What’s an Articulated Course?
An articulated course is one where high school and college faculty review and approve the course content to ensure it matches the college-level curriculum. Students earn credit by passing a Credit by Exam, which assesses the learning objectives of the articulated course.
Who Is This For?
- High school students in CTE pathways
- Teachers building stronger college-career connections
- Counselors guiding students through early college opportunities
